A restored 1930s military bunker on the former Czechoslovak border, also known as The Fields. It is a remnant of the Bratislava Section of the Czechoslovak Fortification System from 1935-1938, it currently houses a museum.
History and Purpose
Bunker B‑S 4 Lány is a restored Czechoslovak border fortification built in the late 1930s to defend Bratislava against rising regional tensions. Today it functions as a small military‑history museum, preserving original equipment, reconstructed interiors, and stories that illustrate the strategic role of these bunkers before the outbreak of the Second World War.
Visiting the Bunker
The site is maintained by dedicated volunteers who offer guided tours explaining the bunker’s construction, armament, and the daily routines of the soldiers who once served here. Tours are conducted in Slovak only and follow a seasonal schedule: April–October: Saturdays at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00; November–March: Saturdays at 13:00 and 14:00
