Kapitulska Street is one of Bratislava’s most enchanting historic lanes — a peaceful, time-worn corridor lined with medieval houses, gardens, and ecclesiastical buildings. Just steps from St Martin’s Cathedral, it remains one of the few Old Town streets where the city still feels untouched by modern life.

A Street Steeped in History

Dating back to the 14th century, Kapitulská was traditionally home to the ecclesiastical chapter, a community of canons serving the cathedral. Many of its houses once belonged to church dignitaries and scholars, giving the street its quiet, almost monastic atmosphere.
Its cobblestones, uneven facades and walled gardens preserve a rare sense of medieval Pressburg.
