The organization develops and promotes all forms of tourism, supports their presentation, creates a platform for cooperation between the private and public sectors in tourism, and manages, initiates, and coordinates the development of tourism in Bratislava. It also serves as the Convention Bureau and provides information services for visitors through its Tourist Information Centre located in the historic city centre.

On 20 December 2011, the general assembly was held to establish the destination management organization of the capital city of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, under the name “Bratislavská organizácia cestovného ruchu” (SK) / “Bratislava Tourist Board” (EN), abbreviated as BTB. The organization was officially registered with the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic on 28 December 2011.

The organization is a legal entity established pursuant to Section 13 et seq. of Act No. 91/2010 Coll. on the Promotion of Tourism, as amended, to support and create conditions for the development of tourism with the aim of building Bratislava into a significant and internationally renowned tourism destination.
