Discover the story behind one of Italy’s most beloved traditions at If Coffee, Then Italian! in Bratislava. This exhibition explores the history, culture, design, and rituals that have made Italian coffee a worldwide symbol of lifestyle, craftsmanship, and social connection.

Why has Italian coffee become a global icon? If Coffee, Then Italian! explores the fascinating story of coffee culture in Italy, where a simple drink has evolved into a symbol of national identity, social interaction, design, and innovation.

The exhibition presents the traditions and rituals associated with Italian coffee, from the daily espresso enjoyed at a café counter to the social moments that bring people together. Visitors can discover how Italian coffee culture has shaped lifestyles both at home and abroad.

Special attention is given to two inventions that transformed coffee consumption worldwide: the espresso machine and the iconic Moka pot, designed by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. With its distinctive octagonal shape, the Moka pot became a design classic and is now featured in prestigious collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

The exhibition also showcases the incredible variety of Italian coffee styles, from ristretto and espresso to cappuccino, latte macchiato, marocchino, and regional specialties such as Bicerin and Caffè Leccese. Together, they reveal the richness and diversity of Italian coffee traditions.

Organised by the Museo del Caffè Association (AMDC) from Trieste, the exhibition highlights coffee as a cultural phenomenon that extends far beyond taste. It is presented as part of the 19th edition of the Italian festival Dolce Vitaj in Slovakia, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Italian coffee culture.
