Central European House of Photography Bratislava

Tucked into one of the oldest streets in Bratislava's Old Town, the Central European House of Photography is one of those places that locals know well and tourists often walk straight past. That would be a shame, because it is one of the most important photography institutions in the region and home to some of the finest exhibitions you will find in the city.
What to expect
The gallery has been developing an independent photographic culture in Slovakia since the fall of communism, and has organised the Month of Photography festival since 1992, bringing more than 30 exhibitions annually to spaces across Bratislava every November.
The gallery occupies two floors, with exhibitions dedicated to both Slovak and Central European photography. The programme mixes well-known international names with artists from across the region whose work deserves wider attention. Because the gallery tends to be quiet, visitors often have the space largely to themselves, which makes for a genuinely contemplative experience.
On the ground floor you will find the Studňa Art Club and a small bistro, a good spot to pause before or after your visit.

Month of Photography
Every November, the Central European House of Photography leads the Bratislava edition of the European Month of Photography, a festival shared with Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Luxembourg, Athens and Budapest. It is one of the best times to visit Bratislava if you have any interest in contemporary photography.
